Subversive graffiti artist Banksy’s “Donut Police” shows a Police escort around a food truck with a giant donut on top. The adage that “police love donuts” resonates with Banksy’s continued commentary on corrupt power. Police safeguarding the passage of cake is askew from their intended purpose which is to protect society. Banksy art comments on how corrupt police misalign their loyalty by the simplest of treats, the donut. The donut is a metaphor, highlighting that the police use their power to fulfill their agenda. In this case, they want to protect a donut truck, representing their wants and needs instead of serving society. “Donut Police” is about how police power is not utilized correctly and is on display for everyone to see.
